For many people with thyroid abnormalities, it is hard to find relief. Not only do patients struggle with everyday discomfort, but it can be difficult to diagnose thyroid disorders because the illnesses often mimic other diseases — early symptoms of Graves' disease, for example, can be mistaken for depression or anxiety. As with any disease or disorder, it is important to seek medical help upon early symptoms of hyperthyroidism to prevent or reduce the development of more serious problems.
